Deadline looming for Ashton independent business awards

AWARDS: Nominate your favourite independent business.

Time is running out for nominations for this year's Ashton Independent Retail Awards.

The awards, which are organised by Ashton Town Team, focus on small town centre businesses who face the challenge of attracting shoppers to the town once again.

Deputy Chair of Ashton Town Team, Cllr Bill Fairfoull, added: “Really pleased to announce we are running the Ashton Independent Business Awards.

“We know it’s been a difficult few years, but let’s get together and support our small businesses.

“So please get involved and vote for your favourite independent businesses in Ashton town centre.”

Shoppers have until Thursday 4 August to nominate online at www.ashtonsmallbiz.co.uk with the winners announced in mid-August.

Following the hugely successful Ashton Independent Business Awards over the past two years, they are once again sponsored by Bromleys Solicitors LLP.

Paul Westwell, partner at Bromleys, said: “We are delighted to sponsor the awards once again this year.

“Independent retail has faced unprecedented challenges during the pandemic and supporting small businesses is more important than ever.”

Judges include Luke Mirfin from Tameside Markets; Nigel Skinner, the editor of the Tameside Reporter; Town Team member and current Mayor Cllr Mike Glover and Andy Hoyle from Tameside Radio.
