Christmas fun at Denton light switch on

Denton town centre came alive last Saturday night for the big Christmas light switch-on.

Mayor Cllr Janet Cooper was the one to flick the switch at 6pm beside Father Christmas and Cllr Brenda Warrington, before hundreds of families took advantage of the festive fairground in the town square.

Hot food and drink kept the chill at bay for parents as their children spun on the teacups or climbed aboard smaller rides. Traditional fairground games were also played, and prizes won.

When the night was through, many wrote and posted their letters to Santa in a letter box.
