Call for volunteers ahead of next Tame Valley community clear-up

Friends of the Tame Valley, the community group dedicated to tidying up the local area, are calling for volunteers to help them on their next outing.

The group were formed in 2021 with the help of Denton MP Andrew Gwynne.

So far, the group has raised money for signage and footpath repairs, organised a number of litter picking events, and even gone 'Balsam Bashing' to clear a pesky invasive plant.

The group's next community clean-up is taking place at 10:30am on Sunday 3 April at Dunkirk Lane Car Park (SatNav: SK14 4PL), and is open to anyone interested in tidying up the Tame Valley and surrounding areas.

Commenting, MP Gwynne said: "I would encourage everyone who is able to, to join Friends of the Tame Valley, and help us clear up the area around the Peak Forest Canal on Sunday.

"It really is so rewarding to get out and about with other volunteers and make a real difference to your local community. I'm so proud of all that Friends of the Tame Valley have achieved in getting the area looking even better than before.

"We hope to see you on Sunday!"
