Busy Easter of events in Tameside

There will be plenty of activities in Tameside over the Easter school holidays, thanks to the busy programme of family-friendly activities organised by the Libraries and Culture services.

At Portland Basin, the big news is that Jack is back. After a two-year gap as a result of Covid, local artist Jack Doyle is returning to lead ‘Make, Do and Play’ sessions.

The Ashton museum is offering eggtastic days out on Tuesdays, April 12 and 19, and Thursdays, April 14 and 21, (11am to 3pm), all with an Easter theme. There will also be free self-led craft activities during the two-week break.

Make, Do and Play workshops cost £1.25 each and are suitable for all ages.

The fun continues in libraries where Under the Sea-themed activity sessions offer crafts, games and a treasure hunt. They are ideal for children aged four to 11 and take place at Hyde Library on Wednesday, April 13; Mossley Library, Friday, April 22; and Stalybridge Library, Monday, April 11.

Places for these events are free but must be booked in advance. To make your reservations and for details of times call 0161 342 2031 or visit www.tamesidelibraries.eventbrite.com.

On Wednesday 20 April, Hattersley Library hosts ‘A Compost Adventure’ with the help of Armchair Adventures.

It’s a family workshop where children use their imagination to shrink to the size of a beetle to explore a summer garden.

They will also learn the importance of composting and go home with their own compost bin.
