Ashton school scoops book challenge

THREE-MENDOUS: Principal Louise Armstrong celebrates with pupils.

Ashton's Inspire Academy has won the Tameside Libraries Summer Reading Challenge for the third year running.

Louise Armstrong, Principal at Inspire, part of Victorious Academies Trust, said: “We just love reading at Inspire Academy and the importance of reading is not only embedded throughout our curriculum, but we never ever stop banging the reading drum, with all of our children and their parents.

“The reason? Because, reading really is the key to all other successful learning. If you see the value of reading and love reading for learning and pleasure it is a proven fact that you are more likely to succeed!

“We talk about this fact with pupils, parents and prospective parents all the time, because if reading is a priority at home and at school the success will be even greater.”

Cllr Leanne Feeley, Tameside Council’s executive member with responsibility for libraries, said: “Reading is important both for learning and leisure, so I am delighted to see so many primary schools working with Tameside Libraries to promote reading through the summer reading challenge which proves so popular each year.

“Inspire Academy has done their best to encourage as many children as possible to enjoy books of all kinds and they should be very proud to have achieved the best results.”
