Ashton community centre to hold first birthday gathering

CELEBRATION: The 4C Community Centre in Ashton.

Ashton's 4C Community Centre is set to celebrate its first anniversary this weekend.

The Waterloo-based community-led hub provides people with a wealth of health and social opportunities.

The centre's celebration will be part of this year's 'Great Get Together' inspired by the memory of Jo Cox MP and which has been bringing communities together around a common cause since 2017.

The Great Get Together celebrates her core message - that we have more in common than that which divides us.

This year, the Great Get Together is encouraging events that embrace the theme of 'Welcome'.

That fits well with the centre which 'welcomed' everyone back after the pandemic last year.

For its anniversary celebrations on Saturday (2 July), 4C - based in the grounds of Christ Church on Oldham Road - will be hosting a picnic full of family fun and games, complete with face painting and a bouncy castle from 11am to 2pm.

Everyone is being invited to take along picnic baskets and join in celebrating a whole year of bringing the community together.

Jonathan Hindle, Chair of the Board for 4C Community Centre, said: "We want to take this opportunity to share our joy and our thanks with the community and to learn more about what new events they'd like to see and how else we can serve them, on the first of hopefully many birthdays for 4C."

Everyone is welcome to attend and celebrate the day.
