Adorable dog with love of tennis balls hopes to find new home this Wimbledon fortnight

Ball fan Gizmo is hoping to find his perfect match this Wimbledon.

Tennis fever might grip the nation for just two weeks every summer, but homeless hound Gizmo is hoping his year-round love of tennis balls will serve him up an ace home during Wimbledon fortnight.

When the famous tournament got under way last week, Crossbreed Gizmo had lived at Dogs Trust Manchester for exactly six months, patiently waiting to find his perfect match.

Now the team at the Denton-based centre are hoping ball mad two-legged friends will take a break from watching the ups and downs of the tournament, and consider giving Gizmo top spot at the heart of a new home.

Dogs Trust Manchester Manager, Dawn Bishop, says: "Gizmo came to us after a change in his family’s circumstances meant they could sadly no longer keep him. He was a much-loved dog and is absolutely adorable. We really don’t understand why people haven’t yet realised what a fantastic canine champion he is!

“He loves nothing more than saying hello to people and gets super excited whenever it’s time to head out on an adventure. His cheeky face lights up and his tail never stops wagging.

“He loves playing with tennis balls, as well as squeaky toys, but he loves a snooze too and often whiles away the hours with us in the office, so he’d make a great office dog!”

Gizmo enjoys getting out and about but as an older boy he doesn’t like to be bothered by other dogs that are off lead, and he’d like to be the only dog in the home. He can live with children aged eleven and over and will make a lovely addition to a family.

Dawn said: “Gizmo is a firm favourite here at the centre but there will be lots of cheering when we are able to finally wave a fond farewell to him as he truly deserves a home of his own. We didn’t think he’d be with us for so long as he’s a star, but hopefully this Wimbledon fortnight will see him become number one in the eyes of new owners.”
