A ton of charity love at Genko's in Dukinfield

Members of staff at Dukinfield's Genko's coffee shop and bistro raised more than a cuppa for this year's Macmillan Cancer Support's latest coffee morning event.

Team member Andrea Burrows said the cause was one that touched them all.

“It is a cause that is close to all of our hearts,” said Andrea, whose own father is in remission following stem cell treatment for melanoma.

The cafe and deli business, located on Globe Lane, was able to donate £100 to Macmillan after staging its own coffee morning.

The team bought cakes especially from M&S for customers, with the large store having a lengthy relationship with Macmillan, donating a percentage from each cake sale to the cancer charity and the M&S Colin Macmillan cake finding fame of its own.

Macmillan Cancer Support is one of the largest British charities and provides specialist health care, information and financial support to people affected by cancer. It also looks at the social, emotional and practical impact cancer can have, and campaigns for better cancer care.
