80s party night raises vital Scanner appeal funds

Folk partied the evening away at a special 80's night in Denton, which raised more than £3,000 for the Tameside Hospital £1m CT Scanner appeal.

The event at Denton Labour Club on Friday night (February 28) was staged in memory of Mandy Turner, who spearheaded the first £1m scanner appeal 30 years ago, and organised by Mandy's Angels.

The Angels are Mandy’s sister Sharon, Mandy’s best friend Joanne Wilding and her daughter Siobhan Amanda (named in Mandy’s memory), plus head of fundraising for the appeal Angie Wild and Tracy Smith.

The 200 tickets for the event sold out weeks ago and there was lots of dancing to the songs of the decade with DJ Paul Akehurst and Ali Boland.

In total, the night raised a fantastic £3,148.73, taking the total for the Scanner appeal to over £52,000.

If you have any ideas about other fundraising events and want to get involved by supporting the Scanner appeal, contact Angie by emailing angie.wild@tgh.nhs.uk.

Any donations too can be made via the JustGiving page at https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/tangscanner
