Trio Complete Tag team Triathlon To Raise Funds For Holiday Camp

Three selfless youngsters have been swamped with praise after completing a tag team triathlon to raise funds for a holiday camp.

Georgia Fielding, Miah Hopwood and Sky Haworth, year five pupils at Inspire Academy in Ashton, completed the challenge on Tuesday, April 19 to raise £600 - half the cost of the camp -  in a bid to ease the financial pressure on their fellow pupils' parents.

Georgia, who represents East Cheshire Harriers, took on a 5km run, whilst Miah swam 0.5km - the equivalent of 20 lengths of a pool - and Sky showed her pedal power with a 10km cycle.

The girls' efforts have, at the time of writing, raised £535 and are appealing for one final push to reach the target.

Ahead of the challenge, Olympic gold medalist Georgia Taylor-Brown MBE sent a video message to wish the girls well. The 28-year-old has since followed that up with the following tweet:

Inspire's official Twitter account also praised the girls' efforts.

The on-site camp, which is scheduled to start on the morning of 8 September, is said to provide an unforgettable experience for the pupils, with team building qualities, independence, resilience and communication skills all developed during the camp.
