PREVIEW: Saturday's football matches

It's another busy weekend of football action with precious league points at stake for our teams.

Oldham Athletic v Grimsby Town

Oldham will be looking to push on after a superb point earned in their last game away at Plymouth. The 2-2 draw was secured courtesy of a David Wheater header and the new Oldham captain will be crucial if they are to get anything from Saturday’s game. Their opponents Grimsby have started the season well and sit in the play-off spots, but they did lose their last game with a 2-0 loss to Crewe Alexandra at home.

Curzon Ashton v Brackley Town

Curzon have struggled since a promising start to the season as they have failed to register a win in their last six league games. They will be looking to take the home advantage against Brackley who sit just outside of the play-off places.

Whitby Town v Hyde United

Table-topping Hyde make the long trip to Whitby who sit just two points behind them in third place. Hyde’s last outing was a 2-0 win at home to Nantwich Town. Whitby come into the game on the back of an impressive 2-0 win at home to Scarborough.

Stalybridge Celtic v Atherton Colleries

Stalybridge will be hoping to put a poor run of form behind them as they host relegation candidates Atherton Colleries at Bower Fold. Stalybridge have had a week to forget after going out of the fa cup at home to Marine and losing convincingly at Basford United. Atherton also lost in their last outing away at Bamber Bridge 3-1.

Mickleover Sports v Ashton United

Ashton United will be hoping that their FA Cup first qualifying round replay win at home to Tadcaster will be a turning point. The Robins are still without a win in the league, but they did draw 1-1 with in form Matlock in their last league game. Mickleover have started well this season and currently occupy seventh place.

Droylsden v Pontefract Colleries

Droylsden could go second with a win against Atherton on Saturday after a great start to the season. The Bloods are unbeaten at home going into the fixture and have only lost once in their opening seven games. Pontefract have only played four games so far due to FA Cup games and so they will be looking for a big win to kick on.

Mossley v Workington AFC

Mossley have had an indifferent start to the campaign with a lack of consistency evident. They face a big task as they take on run away leaders Workington who haven’t lost so far this season. Mossley will be looking for a reaction after a disappointing 3-2 loss away at Pickering in their last fixture.

Kidsgrove Athletic v Glossop North End

Glossop face a long journey to Kidsgrove Athletic in a mid-table clash. Glossop’s form has been patchy with only one win in the league, three draws and two defeats. Kidsgrove come into the game on the back of two victories in a row and they will be hoping for a third on Saturday.

Chadderton v Brigg Town (FA Vase)

Chadderton are in FA Vase action this weekend in the second qualifying round as they host Brigg Town. Chadderton will be hoping that their recent good form will transcribe into another win to secure £725.

Congleton v Avro FC

Avro will be looking to put their poor start well and truly behind them as they travel to Congleton Town. The hosts have had a similar start to the season and both teams will be aware that a win could put them within reach of the play-off places.

Saturday 3pm kick-off unless stated
