Tear-jerking Christmas advert reaches millions with key message

Sam Teale Production.

Beautifully compelling and laced with a vital message, Sam Teale Production’s Christmas advert has touched millions of people across the nation.

When December arrives, so does the influx of various Christmas advertisements from a range of retail brands. Their message is usually simple: tell a festive story while subconsciously selling their next big product.

But this year, there’s been a new contender on the scene, a candidate who has single-handedly shifted the message on the importance of Christmas.

In walks Sam Teale Productions, a company ran by 20-year-old Sam in Cleckheaton, West Yorkshire.

Despite having just entered his 20’s, Sam has managed to create an enterprise that conveys detailed and layered storytelling within gripping videos. His team consists of 21-year-old producer Ellie Connell and 18-year-old Sam Brearley, a video apprentice.

So, when this crew of incredibly talented media creatives arrived on the scene with their answer to an ‘alternative John Lewis advert’, heads were turned.

Their advert stars 6-year-old Ashton Sanders, a gifted young actor who has managed to reduce a nation to tears with his portrayal of a grieving child. Ashton, from Rochdale, made his acting debut whilst featuring in this festive short film.

But it’s not just the young talent that makes this production so extraordinary.

This Christmas is set to be one of the toughest yet, with families up and down the country feeling the increased pressure following the cost-of-living crisis.

Observing those around him, Sam Teale noticed that many people in his local community had already started to feel the struggles this year, and he knew he needed to act upon it.

Sam’s vision was to share the magic of Christmas. Rather than promoting the latest gadget or the newest game, Sam focused on the true meaning of Christmas, the feeling that it brings.

And so, he set out on a mission to share a story that so many will be able to relate to. The father in the advert, played beautifully by the amazing Tom Briggs, displays a story of a grieving parent, struggling to afford a Christmas for his young son.

The advert goes on to show the father creating a go-kart as a present, again highlighting the fact that Christmas is made, not bought.

We are then honoured with one of the most memorable scenes in the production, both the son (Ashton) and the father (Tom) visiting the grave of their deceased mother and wife.

The metaphor here is that the son would rather have his mother back than any gift in the world, reminding viewers to cherish those around them.

Since its launch on December 1, ‘The Go-Kart’ has amassed over 25 million views across various social platforms, inciting thousands of comments of people sharing their experiences.

Following on from its internet success, both Sam and Ashton have been invited to various national television shows and radio stations, travelling across the country to share their message.

For a small production team from West Yorkshire and a child actor from Oldham, this accomplishment truly is breath-taking, and its credit to the team for their inspiring work.

This is undoubtedly the start of an inspiring career for both Ashton and Sam, who left school at 16 to pursue his dreams.

If there’s one thing you do today, set aside 4 minutes to watch this captivating advert, but ensure you have a box of tissues at the ready.
