Injured walker rescued at Dovestones

Fourteen members of Oldham Mountain Rescue Team turned out to an emergency just before midday on Friday.

They received a request from North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust to assist with a walker who had injured their ankle while walking the Dove Stone circular route at Greenfield Saddleworth. The walker was quickly located at the foot of Birchen Clough.
After an assessment by one of the Team’s casualty carers, the walker was wrapped warmly and loaded onto a stretcher for the short, but technical, carry to a Team ambulance.
The walker was then transferred to an NWAS ambulance waiting further down the valley for onward transportation to hospital. The Team team were involved for 1.5 hours.
