Broadway Green link road work progressing

Work is continuing on the final stage of a major new link road, leading to the £100m regeneration scheme at Broadway Green in Chadderton.

Utilities work is currently taking place at the junction of Derwent Drive and Broadway, but access is still available.

The new road will give motorists and pedestrians access to the development, which once complete will provide more than 600,000 sq ft of employment space and up to 500 new homes.

The major construction project includes the decommissioning of Crossley Bridge, the old railway bridge located north west of the San Rocco Restaurant, and the construction of a new signalised junction on Broadway.

It’s estimated the scheme will create 2,000 new jobs and will be give a boost worth £4.6 million annually to the local retail economy from resident spending.

The expected completion date for the link road is the end of 2020.

Oldham Council say during this time there will be unavoidable disruption to residents and road users.

Anyone who has any concerns while the work is taking place can contact the helpline at Cheetham Hill Construction between the hours of 8am to 5.30pm on 0161 761 5109or out of hours (in an emergency only) on 07725 962330.
