Councillors have deferred a decision on plans for a holiday lodge complex to be built on the outskirts of Glossop.

The members of High Peak Borough Council’s Development Control Committee were due to determine the application at their meeting on Monday afternoon (7 November).

However, Chair Cllr Bob Mckeown explained to the interested parties who had attended that members of the committee wanted to have a site visit before they determined the application.

He said members wanted to "walk the fields" before they made a decision "rather than just looking at photographs" of the site.

The revised application is for 12 luxury tourist lodges and a spa lodge together with an associated reception building, to be installed on a 1.1-hectare site at The Stables, The Heath.

Unique Holiday Stays Ltd say the development will help meet an ongoing need for visitor accommodation and would benefit the local area.

Over 100 comments have been received by the council, raising objections on the grounds of residential amenity, highway safety, surface water management and flood risk.
