Thea Best from Glossop is trying to raise £1635 in order to go on a school expedition to Kenya this October.
The trip will be at West End Destiny School in Nakuru which is Kenya's fourth largest city. The school has 70 students aged between two and ten. Thea will be helping to teach the students whilst she’s there, she commented: I will be helping to teach the children while I'm there and with around a hundred different students from Glossopdale School. The trip is organised a company called African Adventures, they partner schools in the UK with schools across Africa including Zanzibar and Ghana.”
Thea’s fundraising efforts include charity fairs, car boot sales and handmade hampers as well as sowing 70 wildflower meadows, one for each child at West End Destiny School. She also attends Limelight Musical Theatre group where director Paula is supporting a raffle that Thea will be doing at their summer production of Oliver.
The youngster is feeling very optimistic about the trip, she added: “I am very excited for the trip and I can't wait to meet the students, I have never done anything like this before. I'm looking forward to being able to visit a different country and experience a different culture as well as helping children with their studies.”
