Glossop care home enjoys charity coffee morning

Residents at a Glossop residential care home have enjoyed a charity coffee morning.

The Risings, currently housing 17 residents, invited family and friends to attend their annual event - managing to raise £250 with funds still coming in days later.

Macmillan Cancer Support provide services for people living with cancer at every stage of their cancer experience, so fundraising is essential to ensure they can deliver the vital support people living with cancer need.

As well as supporting Macmillan, the team at Risings chose to donate money to a breast cancer charity.

Mandy Vella, activities coordinator, said that breast cancer is something ‘close to’ a lot of the residents and their families so they felt this to be suitable.

“We had a wonderful turnout,” she said.

“Thank you to everyone who attended or donated. We really appreciated the support.”
