Strong opposition to a proposed new development to provide 100 homes off the A57 at Dinting has been voiced by local residents. 

More than 160 submissions have so far been made by the public on the application by Wain Homes, who want to build a mix of one to four bedrooms properties including apartments, semi-detached and detached homes.  

Residents have until 7 December to comment on the Adderley Place plans that are currently earmarked to go before the High Peak Borough Council’s Development Control Committee in January. 

Among the issues and objections raised are concerns around traffic, road safety, lack of services, loss of a nature space and environmental impact.  

One said: “We don’t have the infrastructure to support the people who already live in Glossop never mind 100 more houses." 

Road congestion was also repeatedly raised with residents pointing out the proposed access for the site from the A57 would only exacerbate the problem. 

While another told the council: “If you allowed these homes to be built you are destroying a beautiful town with very little green space left."  

Residents were first alerted to the potential development when they received letters last year about investigation works being carried out on the site which is designated in the Local Plan as a potential housing location.
