Carmel Community Meal a 'resounding success'

October's Carmel Community Meal has been hailed as a 'resounding success'.

The team at Carmel Church in Hadfield served 60 sit-down meals to members of the local community on Wednesday evening (27 October).

Local residents were treated to a shepherd's pie and a selection of desserts afterwards.

Padfield borough councillor and High Peak deputy mayor Ollie Cross said: "A massive thank you to Gillian Cross and Jacqueline Gillespie-Cox for all their hard work. In addition, a big thank you to Christine, Dave, Jacky, Matt & Viv for all their efforts as well.

"Jac spent the vast majority of her day at Carmel preparing the delicious meal. It was a long day for our Gill too, who ably assisted Jac and ensured that Hadfield Coming Together's packed lunches ran smoothly earlier on in the day. As usual, they have both gone above and beyond for our local community.

"It was deeply encouraging to hear plenty of positive feedback about the food."

Anyone who wants to book a place for the next Community Meal on 24 November can contact Gill on 07549 307 720. It's an entirely free service and is open to anyone in the local community.
