Cafe Jericho reopens in Gamesley

A popular community cafe in Gamesley has reopened for a takeaway service only, with Covid-19 measures in place.

Cafe Jericho, a registered charity based on Winster Mews, opened on Monday morning (7 September) - but things look very different.

Only four people are allowed in at any one time and must sanitise their hands when entering, as well as wearing a face covering, to keep fellow customers and volunteers safe.

It will be open from 8.30am to 2pm, and customers can stay up to date via their Facebook page.

Cafe Jericho explained on their Facebook page: "Many of our volunteers have pre-existing conditions. Some have not returned due to health concerns, so it is really important that we keep them safe. It is also important for customers to help us to keep others safe.

"We will have masks available for you to buy if you need to."

They added: "Once inside, there will be four discs on the floor and we would ask you to stand at those whilst being served.

"It's currently mandatory and the law states that face coverings should be worn in takeaways, shops and cafes. Please help us to keep within the law and keep yourselves and others safe.

"We are so looking forward to being able to serve Gamesley and see you all again."
