A first for Charlesworth and Chisworth Carnival

King Riley, Princess Orla, and Rosebud Ellie-Rose.

Charlesworth and Chisworth Carnival is back this weekend and, for the first time, the Carnival Royalty will include a Carnival King!

King Riley, Princess Orla, and Rosebud Ellie-Rose will be joining the retiring royalty in the procession on Saturday (9 July).

The ever-popular Carnival procession already has local schools, nurseries, youth groups, and dancers set to take part…but there is still room for more!

Any groups who wish to enter are more than welcome just complete and return the form on their website charlesworthcarnival.org.uk

The Carnival procession will leave St Margaret’s School at 12:30, winding its way through the village to arrive at the Village Green around 1.15pm.

The New Carnival Royalty will then be crowned before they fire the starting gun on the annual senior and junior fell races which are as popular as ever.

Festivities on Charlesworth Village Green will feature the usual attractions - bouncy castle, animals, birds, musical entertainment, dancers, dog show and stalls along with a few new acts. There will also be a great selection of food and drink available to purchase on the day suitable for all tastes.

If you can’t make it, you can still support the day by purchasing bonanza tickets – available in all local shops and pubs.

To start the celebrations the competition is also back with a bang, with all crows predicted to be fleeing the village from 2 July (trail maps are available online).
