Thanks to a grant from the National Lottery, Fit Over Fifty a not-for-profit company who have been supporting older people in Tameside for over 6 years are pleased to be able to offer free signposting and chatline (see our advert). Due to the pandemic there are still people over the age of 50 living in Tameside or Oldham who need practical support and our free helpline acts to signpost people to groups offering practical support and provide a friendly voice for those who just want to chat, especially those with few or no family or friends during the next 3months. Fit Over Fifty also offer chair based exercise, domestic support and a befriending service. Don’t feel alone, give us a call.

Providing a charitable service since 1997 helping those on low income by supplying clean and safe donated furniture and other household items at affordable prices. Preventing waste by upcycling and reselling furniture from a showroom and warehouse on Pikes Lane and shop on George Street, Glossop, to fund the charity’s good cause across the High Peak area. The Project is the only voluntary organisation within the High Peak offering such a service and is in constant demand. It is seen by the statutory and voluntary agencies who use the Project as a lifeline for their service users. The charitable alternative working for and supporting the community of the High Peak.

Reuben’s Retreat is a charity that was born in memory of Reuben Michael Graham who tragically passed away in August 2012, aged just 23 months. Desperate to ensure his short but precious life was not in vain, Reuben’s Mummy Nicola started the charity to help other families walking a similar path. Reuben’s Retreat is a home-from-home for families bereaved of a child and for children with life limiting or threatening conditions and their parents and siblings. We walk side-by-side with individuals to whole families so they are not alone, providing support that is specific to their needs including therapeutic activities, counselling, drop-in and peer support groups, plus fun times, memory making and short breaks. As we renovate and develop the charity’s forever home the scope of our services will grow and enable us to support even more families in need.
