What you need to know about bin collections over Christmas

Tameside residents are urged to note changes to bin collections across the Christmas and New Year holidays.

There will be no brown bin collections at all across Tameside from December 25 until January 11, 2021 and there will be changes on bank holidays, although all other collections will run as normal.

Changes to note are:

• Friday, December 25: If you are due a green (general waste) bin collection, it will be collected on Tuesday, December 29. If you are due a blue (paper recycling waste) bin collection, it will be collected on Wednesday, December 30. If you are due a black (comingled recycling waste) bin collection, it will be collected on Thursday, December 31.

• Monday, December 28: If you are due a green bin collection, it will be collected on Monday, January 4. If you are due a black  or blue bin collection, it will be collected on Tuesday, January 5.

• Friday, January 1: If you are due a green bin collection, it will be collected on Thursday, January 7. If you are due a blue bin collection, it will be collected on Wednesday, January 6. If you are due a black bin collection, it will be collected on Friday, January 8.

Real Christmas trees can be left out with brown bins for recycling from Monday, January 11. The council will collect any additional recyclable waste which is left out with your black or blue recycling bins in a clear or labelled bag.

There will be no bulky household waste collections between December 28 and January 4, 2021. You can download the council bin app for updates and alerts for your Christmas waste and recycling collection arrangements.
