Two men taken to hospital after 'shocking incident' in Audenshaw

Police are investigating after two men were taken to hospital after being assaulted in Audenshaw.

It happened on Monday afternoon (14 June) at around 1.30pm on Pennine View. 

A man - who is described as being white with dark hair, a beard and aged in his mid 30/40s - turned up at a house before assaulting the men. 

A 51-year-old man is in a serious but stable condition in hospital, while a 49-year-old man has since been discharged. 

Greater Manchester Police say no arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.

Detective Sergeant Alexandra Cesarz, of GMP's Tameside division, said: "This is a shocking incident which has resulted in two men being taken to hospital.

"We are still in the early stages of our investigation as we try to piece together the exact circumstances of this assault, however detectives do not believe there to be any wider threat to the community at this time.

"If anyone was in the area at this time and witnessed this assault, or saw a man matching this description, please do not hesitate to get in contact with police."
