Family pay tribute to ‘much-loved son, brother and uncle’ killed after being hit by car

The family of Shaun Davies, who died after being hit by a car on Stockport Road in Ashton-Under-Lyne last week have paid tribute to him.

GMP's Serious Collision Unit Investigators carried out enquiries after a collision between a pedestrian and a vehicle at around 11:55pm last Wednesday, April 24. A male aged 40 died at the scene.

A 29-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. A second man, aged 23, later handed himself in and was also arrested on suspicion of the same crime.

Both suspects have been released on bail pending further investigations.

Paying tribute to him, Shaun’s family said: “We sadly lost our beloved brother Shaun on the 24th April. He was a much-loved son, brother and uncle.

“Shaun was such a beautiful kind person who had a loving and caring character to him. He brought laughter and smiles to anyone he was around.

“As it was a very unexpected death to the family we have set up a GoFundMe page to give Shaun the send off he deserves.

“Us as a family ask for privacy at this time to grieve in peace. Thank you.”
