Two men arrested on suspicion of attempted burglary in Ashton

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of attempted burglary in Ashton. 

Police received reports of a burglary in progress in the Hurst Cross area of the town on Sunday evening at around 8.45pm. 

Officers made to the address 'on a silent approach' and arrested two men in their 50s. 

The pair are awaiting questioning in custody at Ashton Police Station. 

Greater Manchester Police's Tameside North and East team said: "Really good team work from officers and the community who assisted in reporting the offence taking place." 

Anyone who has any information about the burglary is asked to call 101, quoting 2974-1508221.
