Tigers in fixture turmoil

Hyde United’s pre-season fixture against Stockport County, scheduled for Saturday afternoon, has been cancelled.

The Tigers were originally meant to play the Hatters at Ewen Fields but, following Stockport’s decision to play Oldham
Athletic instead, are now without a fixture.

The club is therefore appealing to other clubs in the area to step in.

In other news at Ewen Fields, the Ladies Team have discovered their FA Cup opponents for the forthcoming campaign.

Tameside United Ladies, managed by James Caldwell, will enter the competition during the preliminary round and will host Fleetwood Town Wrens. The fixture is scheduled to be played on Sunday, September 1.

The Under 16s recently made a statement in a pre-season fixture against Crompton with a 9-0 win.

Georgia Johnson took the plaudits on the afternoon with a hat-trick, while Abbie Layfield and Sophie Diorio claimed one apiece. Maisie Malone and Jodie Lawrence both claimed a brace.

In other news, Rebekah Coe has left the club to join Stockport County Ladies.

Caldwell tweeted: “Best of luck to Bek for the season. A great chance to step up a few divisions. All the best from everyone at @hydeunited and @TamesideUtdGFC".
