A young performer from Dukinfield has received a boost to his budding career after being picked to play at Town Team events this summer.

Ethan Booth, 17, was spotted by a member of the Town Team whilst busking in Ashton town centre last month.

The youngster only started playing around three years ago and has since progressed rapidly.

He told the Tameside Reporter: “It was just an idea that I came up with to get my name out there a bit. I decided to do it one day, I started in the centre of Ashton on a corner. I set up my guitar and it was nerve-racking to start off with.

“After one or two songs in I got into it and fed off the crowd. I really enjoy it and it started picking up.

“The money factor of it isn’t the main thing I just like getting out there and playing, but it comes with it and it’s a little bonus.

“It’s really enjoyable going out there, putting a smile on people’s faces, making them happy and playing music.”

Kevin Taylor, of Ashton Town Team, spotted the young man and immediately thought he would be perfect to play at their upcoming events.

Ethan explained: “It was a Tuesday, I was busking in the centre of Ashton and Kevin came up to me, gave me his business card, explained a little bit about what he does and from then I shared contacts with him, spoke with him on the phone and he arranged for me to go for a performance in front of Tameside’s Town Teams.

“I did a little performance in Ashton for them to get a confirmation that I could represent their events.

“It was a bit scary trying to impress them but they all seemed quite impressed.”

Now, after impressing on the streets, he’s hard at work developing his own sound and hopes to release music of his own in the future.
