The Friends of the Tame Valley have received another funding boost for their work in improving the local area. 

The group have been awarded £3,000 from The Greater Manchester High Sheriff's Police Trust.

The donation will go towards some much-needed footpath restoration on Jet Amber Fields, as well as sign post repairs. 

The Friends of the Tame Valley was only founded in February this year and has since gone from strength to strength.

They have run a variety of local events including litter picks, path clearing, and most recently removed a substantial amount of the invasive Himalayan Balsam plant from the area. 

They have received donations from groups including Action Together, Bradley Park Community Trust and the Duchy of Lancaster.

With this latest donation, the group will have raised over £12,000, which will go straight into transforming and protecting the Tame Valley. 

Andrew Gwynne, MP for Denton and Reddish and secretary of the group, said: "I'm so thrilled by this latest donation, and completely bowled over by the generosity of local charities. Friends of the Tame Valley only started a few months ago, but we have hit the ground running and worked so hard to make a difference to the local area. 

"This is a real testament to the work of the numerous volunteers who make up the group, and means that we will be able to spend money on footpath restoration to bring Jet Amber Fields back up to country park standards, and perform some really important sign post repairs. 

"I'd like to thank the Greater Manchester High Sheriff's Police Trust for this donation. After such a tough year, it's more important than ever that our local open spaces are accessible and well-maintained."
