Standing for Brexit in Ashton

Derek Brocklehurst has been announced as the prospective parliamentary candidate for the Brexit Party in Ashton.

One of seven children, Derek, 48, has lived half of his life in Tameside and went to Stamford High School in Ashton, although missed many school days after developing type 1 diabetes.

But, undeterred by his interrupted education, after leaving school he went on an YTS course and gained a qualification in business studies. After working for Royal Mail Parcels for a few years, he then became a taxi driver, a job he still enjoys.

“Helping people is my ethos and I champion British values of tolerance, fairness and diversity within our communities.

“In 2009 I hit the front page of the local press for saving motorists £250,000 in bus lane fines.

“Incensed for being fined after dropping a disabled customer off at Victoria Station, I appealed the fine and won the appeal proving their signage was wrong and had been since the sign was placed there.”
