St Peter's help koala's in Australian bushfire

Students at St Peter’s Primary School in Ashton are helping to save animals from the Australian bushfires thanks to a charity donation.

The ethos council recently organised a non-uniform day that raised over £200 and the pupils chose to donate it to the World Wildlife Foundation for Koala protection after a recent assembly about the disaster inspired the students.

The ethos council are elected on an annual basis by the children to promote the schools christian vision.

Chris Colvin, Deputy Head Teacher at St Peter’s, said: “I’m extremely proud. They did it off their own backs, they’ve made posters and given up their lunchtimes and break times, they’ve even counted all the money. They’re a credit, as are our whole school community for putting so many donations forward.”

Ethos Council member Jade said: “I was devastated because we wanted to help but didn’t know how. So we made a contribution.”

Rabee added: “I’m proud of how much I raised, it was a big amount.”
