Rev David Warner column: A real privilege to be here for you all again

In his latest column for us, the Vicar of Mossley, Reverend David Warner, talks about the 'backlog' of weddings he's been tackling since coronavirus restrictions eased.

As we get to the middle of August there does seem to be signs of hope in the fight with the pandemic.

Though it’s too early to say, it seems we can be cautiously optimistic, while carrying on doing the right things to keep ourselves and others safe.

We know there is also a lot to be done addressing all kinds of backlogs caused by the past year - the number of HGV drivers and others needed to keep things moving has shown so graphically the effects of what happened when our society essentially closed down for several months last year.

Recently I’ve been tackling a ‘backlog’ of weddings, some of which have taken place over a year late.

It’s a huge privilege to be able to celebrate these important occasions with people, and even better that we’re able again to invite lots of folk to come and be part of it.

So, with caution but profound optimism we look to the future, continue to celebrate with those who are celebrating, and grieve with those who are grieving - in short, we do what we can, whenever we can, and enjoy the privilege of just being able to ‘be there’ again.
