Results day high for students at All Saints Catholic College

Year 11 students at All Saints Catholic College received their GCSE results and head teacher Gus Diamond couldn’t be prouder of ‘another year of excellence and success’.

Exam-based grading was cancelled due to coronavirus and replaced by teacher assessed grades. However, teachers are still held accountable by the national standard and grades continue to be approved and awarded by exam boards.

The government also declared it is not publishing performance data for any schools or colleges this year.

Head teacher at the Dukinfield school, Gus Diamond, added: “We are immensely proud of all the work and achievements of our students, especially after such a difficult and disrupted year. Our teachers have worked tirelessly to ensure pupils are all able to progress on to further education and study, and we look forward to seeing what they will achieve in the future.

“This is the first cohort of pupils who have completed five years of their studies as part of the new All Saints. Their achievements truly reflect the ongoing improvements in the school and show their resilience in the face of the most challenging of circumstances.

“Pupils and their teachers have given everything to ensure they have been successful. This cohort of young people have really seen some fundamental changes to their school. Their fortitude and resilience are why they have achieved their successes today.

“I am immensely proud of the family of All Saints: pupils, staff and our very supportive parents. Together, we have been on a huge improvement journey and today, for the majority of our pupils, that has paid off in their GCSE results.

“We wish them all the very best of luck for the future and know that they leave us, equipped to be the wonderful young people Tameside and All Saints will be proud of’”.
