Homes have been evacuated as firefighters battle a huge blaze on a Hyde industrial park.

The fire at the offices of Visual Architects on Meadow Street and Stockport Road was reported at 9pm tonight.

Fire crews from Tameside and Greater Manchester are tackling the blaze.

Some nearby residents have been evacuated and others ordered to keep their doors and windows closed.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue said: "Just after 9.30pm tonight firefighters were called to reports of a building on fire on Stockport Road, Hyde.

"Five fire engines from Hyde, Gorton, Stalybridge, Stockport and Whitehill fire stations, alongside a hydraulic platform from Oldham, arrived quickly at the scene, which involved a commercial building. Crews are working hard, including helping to evacuate nearby properties."
