New Christmas hit to be sung exclusively for Scanner Appeal concert

A potential Christmas number one will be sung exclusively for the Tameside Hospital £1m Scanner Appeal Christmas concert, we can exclusively reveal.

The song, entitled ‘It’s Love on Christmas Day’, is tipped to be a contender for the top spot in the charts this Christmas.

Released on Friday (4 December), it features vocalist Keedie Estelle, who had a recent number two UK chart hit with Duncan James from the band Blue.

Andrew Warwick, who duets with Keedie, says the team is proud to showcase the song for the £1m CT Scanner Appeal and support such a wonderful cause.

He says: “‘It’s Love on Christmas Day’ carries a simple but important message that in times like these love conquers; just simply being able to hear the words from someone, ‘I love you,’ or to kiss or hug someone special, can make all the difference.

“With this in mind I was inspired to write the lyrics and a melody. I approached my co-songwriter Mark Young, and the idea became a song.”

Adrian and Keedie will join Britain’s Got Talent winner, Mossley’s very own Jon Courtenay for the concert.

As we revealed last week, he has confirmed he is writing a special song for the virtual show, which premieres on YouTube on Friday, December 18 at 8pm.

He explains: “Christmas is a special time of year but with coronavirus pandemic it’s going to be a lot different for most of us.

“All the more reason that we celebrate as best we can and remember that there’s nothing more important than family and friends no matter what. I’m hoping my song will reflect that.”

Also on the bill is Colin Thackery (pictured below), the 90-year-old Chelsea pensioner and last year’s BGT winner.

He performed in the summer’s Sing for the Scanner concert and says he’s delighted – due to popular demand -  to be asked to sing again.

Completing the line-up announced so far is Chloe Jones, from Dukinfield, who is celebrating the release of her latest single ‘Damsel’, inspired she says by her recent trip to Guatemala City.

The Christmas concert will be hosted by Tameside Radio’s talented presenters Alex B Cann and Sarah Hall who are promoting the event through their popular shows.

Alex presents the station’s breakfast show, plus he is live at weekends and hosts the ‘Saturday Super Scoreboard’. Sarah meanwhile presents the radio’s daytime community show, ‘We are Tameside’.

Karen James, Tameside and Glossop NHS Foundation Trust Chief Executive, says the concert will be just the tonic that is needed after many challenging months.

“There are several surprises yet to be announced including a special rendition of a popular favourite by our very own Clinical Coding team. I for one can’t wait to see what they and others have come up with,” she said.
