More local heroes to receive Citizen's Awards from MP

A number of local heroes will be honoured by Denton MP Andrew Gwynne in a special virtual ceremony this weekend.

Earlier this year, the Labour MP launched his own Citizen’s Awards to recognise the efforts of people in his constituency who have gone above and beyond for their communities.

He was inundated with nominations, who were assessed by a judging panel and winners have since been announced on a monthly basis.

Mr Gwynne has already handed out many awards - including to Denton personal trainer Louise Park who kept people mentally and physically fit during the first lockdown, Audenshaw dental nurse Vicky Lambert who was pressed into action as a coronavirus care assistant, and Denton West End Community Library volunteer Christine Ingham whose additional work during lockdown was a huge help for parents and children.

He will be presenting even more during a virtual event on Saturday (28 November) at 11am, when all will be revealed.

Mr Gwynne says he has been "overwhelmed with stories about the amazing, supportive work of so many in Denton and Reddish during the coronavirus pandemic".
