Man City kits ‘kick off’ record-breaking day for Hyde charity shop

Donated Man City football kits saw shoppers queue outside the British Heart Foundation’s (BHF) Hyde shop for up to an hour, on what was the shop’s busiest day in history.

The kit, kindly donated by the Etihad Campus, flew off the shelves within 45 minutes, making a record-breaking £1,200 for the shop. Among the donations, customers could find branded shorts, shirts, and hoodies.

The BHF Hyde shop has an ongoing relationship with the training ground and receives new stock every few months. Hyde shoppers should keep their eyes peeled on social media for updates to make sure they don’t miss out.

Emma Thatcher, shop manager at BHF Hyde, said: “I was stunned to see so many people queuing outside the shop before we opened. The customers just kept coming, and it was one of the busiest days I can remember. We’ve become well known in the town for our relationship with the campus, and we always sell out quickly.

“A huge thank you to the Etihad Campus for generously donating the kits, and to all the Hyde shoppers who popped in to make a purchase, whether regular or new. We’re a busy shop and always looking for more volunteers, so if you have a spare hour or two, do feel free to pop by the shop for a chat! As well as being part of an amazing team, we also offer a discount to all our volunteers as a thank you.”

The Hyde BHF shop at Unit 3 The Square is open seven days a week. You can also shop online at bhf.org.uk/shop and to find out about volunteering with the BHF, visit bhf.org.uk/volunteer
