Man, 23, dies after serious collision in Droylsden

A 23-year-old man has died after being involved in a serious collision on a road in Droylsden.

Emergency services were called to Edge Lane shortly after 1.30am on Saturday morning (7 August). 

It was established that a Yamaha motorbike had collided with a Polo VW car.

Two men, aged 22 and 23, sustained serious injuries and both were taken to hospital.

The 22-year-old man remains in a stable condition, however, Greater Manchester Police confirmed on Monday afternoon (9 August) that the 23-year-old man has since sadly died from his injuries. 

No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing, police say.

Police Sergeant Neil Pennington, of GMP's Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "This is a tragic incident in which a man has sadly lost his life. Our thoughts are with his family at this incredibly distressing time and we wish a full recovery for the 22-year-old who is still in hospital.

"This collision happened in a residential area, so we are hopeful that people will have witnessed the collision and may have dash cam footage or CCTV footage of the incident.

"If you have any information at all about this collision please contact police as soon as possible."
