A Hyde man is one of three people who have been charged after a young mum was dragged from her car at knifepoint, in what police described as a "brazen and cowardly attack".

Brandon Smith, 21, of Wild Clough in Godley, has been charged with two counts of robbery and possession of a knife in a public place.

Meanwhile, 18-year-old Kaydn Jones, of Rock Street in Salford, has been charged with two counts of robbery.

A 17-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has been charged with two counts of robbery, driving while disqualified, using a vehicle without third party insurance, and threatening a person with a blade in a public place.

All three have been remanded in custody, where they will next appear at Manchester Crown Court on 27 July.

Police were called at around 7.10pm last Thursday (17 June) to Clumber Road, near Debdale Park, in Gorton to a report of an armed theft of a motor vehicle.

Enquiries have since established a young woman and her child were approached by three males, before she was threatened with a knife and pulled from the car by one of them.

The woman was able to pull her young child from the back of the car before the trio fled the scene in her vehicle.

Thankfully both mother and child are safe and well.

The car was later found abandoned on Manby Road in Gorton.
