Family pay tribute to 'loving father' after Droylsden stabbing

The family of a man who died in Droylsden on Friday morning have paid tribute to him.

Ian Bent, 47, sadly passed away after being stabbed at a house on Redesmere Close just after 1am on Friday (6 August).

He was taken to hospital by the emergency services in a critical condition and, despite the best efforts of medical staff, he died a short time later.

Dean Farrell, 21, also of Redesmere Close, has been charged with murder and appeared at Manchester Magistrates Court on Saturday (7 August).

He has been remanded in custody ahead of an appearance at Manchester Crown Court on Monday (9 August).

Paying tribute to Ian, his family said: "Our loving father, Ian, was our everything and more. He was a friend to many and loved by all.

"He would have always gone above and beyond to put a smile on anyone's face.

"He was a brother, a father, a grandad and truly loyal friend. He had the biggest heart and made everyone happy who was around him.

"He was loved dearly and taken far too soon.

"We as a family, and close friends, are beyond heartbroken with his loss, and it will forever change our lives."
