Emmaus Mossley announce Christmas plans

Emmaus Mossley have announced they’re going all out for Christmas with a huge sale at their secondhand superstore.

In order to minimise the risk of spreading COVID, they’ve shelved their usual Christmas launch event and will instead spread the sale over multiple weeks, giving everyone a chance to shop safely and pick up a bargain.

The charity support 26 formerly homeless people by providing them with home and work in a community setting. The charity’s shop sells a wide range of donated and up cycled furniture, household goods and vintage wares.

Rob, one of the community members at Emmaus Mossley, said: “It’s all new to me as I’ve only joined Emmaus Mossley this year but I’m really looking forward to the festive run-in. I love the sights, sounds and colours of Christmas and this will bring a whole new vibe to our Secondhand Superstore.

“It’s challenging times for everyone at the moment but we’re all looking forward to working together as a team to bring the Christmas spirit to Emmaus Mossley.”

The Emmaus Mossley Secondhand Superstore will offer a range affordable festive items, vintage and retro decorations, secret Santa gifts, presents for under £5, lighting and reusable Christmas trees. The charity is keen to promote the benefits of shopping second hand at Christmas, helping to reduce waste and reduce the costs of buying new.

Hazel Hodkinson, Retail Manager at Emmaus Mossley, said: “We know that this year, more than others, many people and households may be cutting back on what they usually spend. Here at Emmaus Mossley, we want to help everyone get sorted for Christmas without breaking the bank.

“Our team has been collecting together festive items since last January and we plan to offer the majority of these at bargain prices from mid-November. Our plan is to add Christmas stock each day and so whatever day you visit us, you’ll be sure to find some fresh items.”

In the run up to Christmas, Emmaus is appealing for donations of good quality decorations, festive items and unused presents from last year. These items will be offered for sale in the Secondhand Superstore where all the money raised is used to support formerly homeless people at the Mossley charity.
