A man has been hailed a 'hero' after he took action to save two women from a house fire in the early hours of the morning.
At around 5.30am on Sunday 18 July, an arsonist targeted the Dukinfield house of mother-of-three Colette.
Passer-by Dan Jones noticed smoke rising from the back garden and leapt into action. Pounding on the door he woke Colette and her best friend, Kim, saving their lives.

Colette’s sister, Shana Crossland, added: “He woke her moments before the smoke hit her bedroom, any longer and she’d be dead.
“Dan really is a hero. Myself and my family can’t thank him enough. We’re so grateful and lucky that he saw the smoke and changed direction to alert my sister. There’s no doubt he’s saved her life.”

The back door and back window were severely damaged, as a result Colette is living with her family until the house is repaired.
Three fire engines from Ashton-under-Lyne and Hyde fire stations were called to the scene.
Spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service added: “The fire involved an outhouse and had spread to the kitchen door of a domestic property.”
“Crews arrived quickly and firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used three hose reels to extinguish the fire. Fire crews were on the scene for around two hours.”
