Drivers needed to help residents get Covid-19 vaccine

Action Together is recruiting for new Miles of Smiles volunteer drivers in Tameside.

Whilst Covid-19 vaccinations have started to be rolled out in the borough, many of the charity's members require transport to the vaccination sites.

The charity - which supports, advises and helps individual volunteers, groups and organisations - says it needs more Miles of Smiles drivers than ever before to support extra demand and help the most vulnerable residents in Tameside get the vaccine.

Miles of Smiles is a community transport scheme operating for use by residents of Tameside where volunteer drivers use their own cars and the Miles of Smiles wheelchair accessible vehicle to take people to and from health and wellbeing appointments.

Drivers are not paid for their time but there is a charge to cover running costs. The charge is paid direct to the driver and should not include tips.

Action Together is running an information meeting over Zoom on Friday (18 December) at 12pm for people to find out more and ask any questions.

Book a place at the virtual meeting by visiting https://www.actiontogether.org.uk/civicrm/event/info
