Dave Sweetmore column: Win tickets to weekend festival

Tameside Radio presenter Dave Sweetmore writes about an exciting festival coming up and how you can get your hands on some tickets.

The village of Romiley near Stockport is getting ready for one of its biggest weekends ever, when the highly popular ‘Made In Manchester’ Festival takes place on September 18 and 19.

The festival was last held in the village in 2019, in the grounds of the cricket club, but has now been upgraded due to high demand to Farmers Fields on Cowlishaw Brow, and will take place over the full weekend rather than just the usual one day.

The Made In Manchester festivals, which started around five years ago, are organised by Rob and Nat Brierley, who launched the brand as a new festival, which brought not only some of the country’s best tribute bands to a large audience, but also gave local up and coming bands and musicians the chance to play on a big stage to a huge crowd.

The festivals, which have been shortlisted in the UK’s best festival awards, have also taken place in Bolton, Poynton, and Dukinfield.

This year’s Romiley event, which is family friendly, and has already sold thousands of tickets, hosts a great Saturday line-up across three stages, including tributes to Courteeners, James, Oasis, Happy Mondays and The Smiths, and also some great local bands including Cobain Jones, Freeda, and Narrow Margin.

Sunday’s line-up sees tributes to Take That, The Housemartins and Beautiful South, The Buzzcocks and The Verve, with many local bands including Afternoon People, Oceans On Mars, and 25th Hour.

I’ll be DJing and hosting the main stage on both days, while my Tameside Radio sidekick Laura Beth hosts the second unsigned stage, in association with Stylish Riot.

Lots of other entertainment will be taking place on the site over the two days, including fairgrounds, festival stalls, a food village, and a special gin and cocktail garden.

Tickets are available individually for each day, or as a weekend pass. A limited number of VIP passes are also available.

Next week, as well as my normal Monday night show at 7pm on Tameside Radio, I’ll be filling in all week for Mark Alston on the drivetime show between 3pm and 7pm.

I’ll have weekend tickets to giveaway for the Made In Manchester Romiley festival, so listen in each day to find out how. For tickets and further information about the Romiley weekend festival, visit www.madeinmanchester.co.uk
