Win keeps Mossley's keep unbeaten run going

Mossley extended their unbeaten run to eight games on Saturday, with a 3-2 win at home to Kidsgrove Athletic.

The hosts started the game perfectly, taking the lead just before the half-hour mark when Jack Banister’s cut-back found Alfie Belcher who finished superbly to put his side ahead.

Banister then went from provider to goalscorer, doubling The Lilywhites’ lead in first-half stoppage time after latching onto a cross from Darren Holden and smashing the ball home on his 100th appearance for the club.

After going in at the break trailing by two goals, visitors Kidsgrove came out in the second-half with a point to prove.

After forcing a couple of saves from Fin Madigan in the Mossley goal, the away side finally found the breakthrough 15 minutes from time when forward Jake Lovatt capitalised on a goalkeeping error and halved the deficit.

As Kidsgrove pushed for an equaliser space began to open up for Mossley, and they regained their two-goal cushion in stoppage time with Sam Adetiloye finding space in behind, taking the ball round the onrushing goalkeeper and smashing the ball home.

There was time for Kidsgrove to get one back before the final whistle through a back post header from Kieran Brown, but it was ultimately too little too late for the visitors and they came away from Seel Park empty-handed.

The win sees David Fish’s men move up to  11th in the table ahead of their trip to Nantwich Town this weekend.
