Walk this way

Local social enterprise Be Well saw the start of its spring activity programme last week with Walking Football kicking off at Memorial Park in Whaley Bridge.

The players - some established, some brand new - braved the afternoon’s chill to play a version of football developed specifically to get older men off the sofa, into the company of their peers and enjoying life.

Arthur Bradford, Be Well’s Activator, said: “It was great to get active again and to meet up with mates old and new.

“Be Well have been using Walking Football since 2012 to get men active and engaged.

“It’s not a cure for loneliness and the ills of inactivity, but it’s a great start, especially after the privations of lockdown.”

If you or a loved one would benefit from an hour in the fresh air taking a little gentle exercise without unnecessary competitiveness and sliding tackles, call Nick Rider on 07834 670902, email him on nick.rider@bewellglossop.co.uk or message Be Well on Facebook.
