Two wins on the spin for The Lilywhites

Mossley made it two wins in a row on Saturday with a hard-fought victory away to Hednesford Town.

The Lilywhites were dealt a huge blow ahead of the match after talented forward Eden Bailey confirmed he would be departing the club to join Clitheroe.

Visitors Mossley started the game brightly, going close to scoring after just ten minutes when Alfie Belcher's free-kick whistled just past the post.

The away side where then dealt a blow just before the half-hour mark when Tyler Berry was forced off through injury, to be replaced by new signing Jamal Crawford.

Hosts Hednesford had their best chance of the game shortly after when defender Ahmed Ali’s header crashed against the crossbar before Mossley were able to clear.

After a relatively uneventful second half, the game was sprung into life by an unbelievable strike from Keaton Mulvey, who picked the ball up just inside the area before creating space for the shot and unleashing an unstoppable effort that flew in off the post.

This elation then turned to despair less than five minutes later when goalscorer Mulvey was shown his second yellow card of the match and sent off for kicking the ball away in frustration.

Mossley were almost made to pay for this in the third minute of injury time when Nathan Delfouneso’s goal-bound effort was tipped over the crossbar by Fin Madigan.

Despite the late scare, David Fish’s men managed to hold on and seal all three points.

The win sees The Lilywhites move up to 12th in the table ahead of their home match against Clitheroe this weekend.
