Tuesday Football Review

Two of our local sides were in action on Tuesday night.

In the National League North, Curzon Ashton ended a four game losing run with a goalless draw against Brackley Town. The Nash entered the game having conceded 14 goals in their previous four outings, however the visitors to the Tameside Stadium, who currently top the division, were unable to breach the Curzon defence and were made to return south with just a point.

Adam Lakeland's side will be hoping to pick up a victory this weekend when Boston United, currently in 10th spot and chasing the playoffs, visit the Tameside Stadium.

IN the NPL Premier Division, it was something of a night to forget for Ashton United who relinquished a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 with Atherton Collieries.

Michael Clegg's side looked comfortable in the early stages of the second half thanks to a quick fire double from Michael Brewster and Ekow Coker in the 52nd and 55th minute, however Colls pulled one back through Marcus Cusani in the 70th minute before drawing matters level with four minutes remaining thanks to Gareth Peet.

The Robins, who are 12th in the table, host Scarborough Athletic in 5th on Saturday.
