Title-winning Kyle makes his mark

In what was another successful weekend for Oldham Boxing a potential future star was unearthed in Kyle Tullin.

In capturing the 75kg National Title Tullin has made people take notice of his talent. To win a title is an obvious achievement but to add the magnitude of the success, Kyle had to compete in his seventh contest in three weeks, which in itself is a physical and emotional challenge. When you combine this with fact that Kyle was the youngest, smallest and least experienced in the competition, his victory to some is remarkable.

In the final he came up against the formidable Junior Gomez from Essex, who somehow managed to make the 75kg weight limit. From the first round onwards Tullin bamboozled Gomez with both fleet of foot and the speed of his combination punching. His long armed opponent, at times, resembled a Bull chasing a Matador with his uncoordinated attacks being easily evaded by Tullin who returned the favour with fast volleys of punches. At times the fight was so one sided that Tullin could have got the stoppage, however Tullin was declared a unanimous winner and England Boxing's National Development 75kg Champion.
