Match Report: Ashton United 2-0 Worksop Town

Ashton's second meeting with Worksop in just over a month saw them gain revenge with a comfortable victory at a chilly Hurst Cross.

With an unchanged line up from the Lancaster victory the hosts won a early conrer which needed Seb Malkowski to tip it away before James Hardy's return ball found Kielen Adams converting from an offside position.

On 19 minutes the game sprung to life as Adams was involved again and Jason Gilchrist's ball into the box found Alex Byrne providing a clever finish as he lobbed home over Malkowski. The Robins saw another goal chalked off for offside as Hardy's touch on Byrne's cross sent the ball goalwards with Warren Clarke touching home only to be ruled out. A minute later Paul Cooper pulled off a fingertip save on Liam Hughes' header from Josh Wilde's cross but immediatley Adams finished close in at the second attempt following Byrne's driven cross.

Luke Burke then brought a flying save out of Malkowski from Hardy's cut back and Hughes glanced another header wide of the far post.

The second period was a quieter affair with George Taft conceding a corner from a long clearance which eventually deflected out off Malkowski and Hardy's pass into the area saw Byrne denied close in by the Tigers' keeper. Gilchrist's effort was then well blocked by the keeper from Burke's header just past the hour mark and Jay Rollins was denied by Cooper from Hughes' flick.

With 2 minutes left Luke Burke's blockbuster from 25 yards was straight at Malkowski and Rollins' deep cross was cleared by Byrne for a corner which led to Hall firing wildly over.
